ARE YOU BEING WATCHED?   A camera was found facing a toilet in the women's restroom of a White Lake Township auto dealership, and police are investigating.   An employee found the recording device about 1 p.m. Wednesday at Szott M-59 Chrysler Jeep and initially thought it was a cell phone, "but it was a little more elaborate than that," White Lake Township Police Chief Adam Kline said. It was found on the floor, just outside the stall door.

The device will be analyzed to find what's on the hard drive and whether anything was transmitted from it, he said.

Kline said police have some suspects.

Auto dealership owner Thad Szott didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) reports he called the discovery "disturbing and disappointing" after working to build trust with the community.

For the first time, students at Georgia's public colleges and universities will be allowed to legally carry stun guns, starting Friday. State Rep. Buzz Brockway, R-Lawrenceville, sponsored the bill and told Channel 2's Lori Geary this is all about safety.

“During the session, I was getting calls, especially from students at Georgia State, because there were three robberies in the library while we were in session, so there were a lot of students who contacted me to say, 'Hey can I have one now?'" Brockway said.

Brockway said most campus policies prohibited the electroshock weapons on campus but this state law will trump those policies.

Earlier this year, Gov. Deal vetoed the campus carry bill, which would have allowed licensed gun owners to bring their weapons onto campus, excluding dorms, fraternity and sorority houses and sporting events.

Georgia HB 792 allows anyone 18 years or older or currently enrolled in a Georgia public college to carry a stun gun anywhere on campus.

University System of Georgia spokesman Charlie Sutlive released a statement to Geary, saying “Our … institutions are aware of HB 792 taking effect July 1, and we have been working directly with our campus chiefs of police and safety departments in preparation.”

The system's chief of police sent out a memo to all campus public safety directors alerting them to the change in the law.

Georgia Gwinnett College student Ashley Flagg told Geary she would not carry a stun gun because she's afraid it would be used against her. Flagg, though, also said this was about her rights as a student.

“I think we should have the right to be able to carry it because in some cases people feel like they are threatened on campus," Flagg said.

Chelsea Jackson, also a student at GGC, said stun guns should not be allowed.

“Just something else to give you an excuse to be violent to somebody because you want to. If someone pushes you in the hallway the wrong way or they step on your toe, if that person is having a bad day, then what?" Jackson said.

Brockway said, “We trust college students to fight wars for us, to drive, to get married, to make all sorts of decisions. I think we can count on them to act wisely and protect themselves.”

The law goes into effect Friday.

Baby-faced burglars have spooked a southeast Atlanta neighborhood where they hauled off a television while one waved a gun. “Kids” is how homeowner Zach Goossen described the trio. They were captured on his security cameras from several angles, with good views of their faces. “You have to wonder, did they just leave school an hour before that or something,” Goosen told Channel 2 Action News.

Police told the news outlet that they have a suspect in custody, warrants for two others and suspicions about a fourth person whom they are trying to identify.

The burglars also took a computer and a gun.

Neighbor Jennifer Murray said the Thursday break in has the neighborhood along Flat Shoals Avenue on edge.

“You wonder what's going on with these kids that they are out during the day running around breaking into houses,” she said.

A former certified nursing assistant was sentenced this week to five months in jail and five years of probation for the abuse of a nursing home resident that was captured by a hidden camera. Rose Dorlean Blaise, 36, was charged with one count of battery on the elderly after she was caught on tape with another CNA abusing a 76-year-old resident with Alzheimer's at Palm Garden of Winter Haven in Winter Haven, FL.   The video footage showed Blaise and Yashika Jones, 30, taunting, kicking and hitting the resident on three different occasions in 2015. Jones was sentenced to 18 months in prison and five years of probation in May.

The resident's family placed the hidden camera inside a clock in his room after they noticed bruising on his body. He has since died.

In addition to her sentence Blaise must undergo a 26-week batterer intervention program, write an apology letter to the man's family and forfeit her nursing license. She also is barred from future employment in a caretaking position.

Officials at Winter Haven were not available for comment on Thursday. In a statement released to Tampa Bay's 10 News following Blaise and Jones' initial arrest, Winter Haven Chief Operating Officer Jeff Bomberger said the company maintained an “overarching commitment” to providing a safe and welcoming care environment, and had suspended the two without pay.

“Upon the completion of this investigation and the satisfaction of all legal and law enforcement issues, we will determine and enact any necessary changes to prevent such actions from ever occurring again,” Bomberger wrote.

Currently Illinois, Washington, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico allow cameras to be installed in nursing home resident rooms. In addition, Utah this week moved closer to becoming the first state to pass legislation allowing cameras in assisted living resident rooms.
