Over 40,000 years ago, the first blowguns began to appear in many
different parts of the world. Although crude, these
primitive weapons were extremely
accurate.
It is not known exactly where blowguns originated, however, it is generally
believed that they appeared simultaneously in many parts of the world.
Back then, blowguns were made from bamboo or other hollowed out woods.

I had made a makeshift target out some 2x4's, an old sleeping pad from my Army days, and some duct tape. We were sitting on the front porch with our brand new blowguns; neither of us had used one before. At first we put the target out to about 10 feet just to see if the target darts flew straight.
After a few tries, we were able to hit the target every time and we both wanted to increase the distance. So out it went to about 25 feet. The key, we found, was a combination of the proper aim and how hard you blew through the mouthpiece. Once we figured that out, we couldn't miss!
Pretty soon the target couldn't go any further or else it'd be in the road and we still couldn't miss. We started arguing about who was the better shot and kept trading the 36 inch with the 48 inch to see who was better with each one. (You have to adjust your shot with the different lengths.)
After that single afternoon, (ok, literally hours on end) we were both expert marksmen and neither of us conceded defeat. Blowguns cannot be shipped to California

Blowguns are still used today for hunting by Amazonian Indians in South America, and by Pygmies in Africa. They were also used by the Ninja prior to 1500 in Japan for silent assassination with poison darts.
Today's modern man uses the blowgun with tranquilizer darts to help maintain today's wildlife. Herpetologists find the blowgun extremely useful in capturing elusive lizards with stun darts.

These blowguns are .40 and .50 caliber, precision manufactured. They are not toys but the real thing. With all the new improvements, these blowguns will reach ranges over 200 feet and muzzle velocities as high as 300 feet per second or more! In fact, the target darts can penetrate 1/4" of plywood with no problem! The longer the blowgun, the greater the range and velocity you can expect.
